Gone Fish’n

So… I lived in Maine and was in the commercial fishing industry for a while. Owned a lobster boat, went sword fishing, scalloping, ground fishing, etc. Spent some time as a skipper on the Northeast Peak of Georges Bank.

Late 70’s or early 80’s…  The good old days

When I first got into commercial fishing I worked on Charlie Johnson’s boat. Charlie was the best sword fisherman in the world and an extraordinary icon in the fishing industry.  He’s was the best.  He was often referred to as “Two Moon Charlie” because sword-fishing trips on his boat were so long with him at the helm.  He was one of the hardest-working persons I ever met.  Wicked smart too.  Charlie is sited in the book The Perfect Storm (good book; highly recommended).

Charlie passed in May of 2024.  I am thankful to have know him.  Rest in peace Charlie.

Regards,

Mike
